This beginner-friendly workshop invites you to experience a quieter, more local side of Yogyakarta by visiting our community garden and learning how to make beautiful natural dyes from the plants that grow around us. Your journey will begin with a walk through our garden, where you will learn to identify natural dye-producing plants, then pick fresh leaves directly from the trees to be used as dye. Guided by local artisans, you will discover how nature can transform ordinary fabric into unique textiles with earthy and organic colors. This workshop lasts 3 hours (180 minutes), giving you plenty of time to learn, create, and enjoy the experience. During the workshop, you will learn: 1. How to identify the best fabrics for natural dyeing 2. Important preparation processes, including scouring (initial washing), mordanting (color locking), and fixation 3. How to make natural dye extracts 4. Getting to know the plants in the garden that can be used as natural dyes This is more than just a craft workshop. It is an opportunity to slow down, connect with nature, and experience everyday village life in Yogyakarta through the art of natural dyeing. Things to note for this workshop: 1. Wear comfortable clothing and footwear because the workshop is outdoors 2. Use sunscreen, sunblock, or prepare insect repellent lotion if your skin is sensitive 3.
