Experience an authentic and immersive cultural journey by exploring the historical footsteps of Nusantara textiles through a Studio Visit at Dibyo Lurik Krapyak, Yogyakarta. The Krapyak area is not only known as a center for pesantren (Islamic boarding schools) and Keraton (Royal Palace) history, but also stands as a stronghold for preserving traditional lurik fabric. You will be invited to see firsthand how a piece of lurik fabric is created from scratch. The process begins with the yarn dyeing phase, where plain threads are dipped into quality natural dye mixtures to create the signature color character of Krapyak lurik. Once dried, the yarns move on to the winding process, where the skilled fingers of artisans diligently arrange thousands of thread strands to align perfectly before being set onto the loom. The experience continues as you enter the weaving room. Here, the rhythmic wooden clacks of the Non-Machine Handloom (Alat Tenun Bukan Mesin - ATBM) accompany the artisans' precision in weaving each thread strand into meaningful philosophical stripe patterns. After witnessing this long, dedicated journey, you can conclude this cultural adventure by exploring the Dibyo Lurik gallery store. With the provided shopping voucher, you are free to choose from a variety of lurik fabrics by the meter, modern apparel, to unique ethnic accessories to take home as a memorable keepsake from Krapyak. Important notes for this studio visit: 1. Will proceed with a minimum of 3 participants 2. Please bring your own drinking water/tumbler 3. Please arrive on time 4. Parking space is limited, so it is more convenient to use two-wheeled vehicles or online ride-hailing services
